What this is
Riftback is a fan-made build reference for League Classic, which launched on 2026-07-29 with patch 26.15. It is built for people who played the old seasons and for newer players who want the old item and rune systems explained: builds, masteries and jungle routes without wading through a decade of changes.
Who makes this
Riftback is one person's spare-time passion project. I have played League since Season 1 (on and off) and spent the Season 1–3 era rated around 2000–2300 Elo. This site is the reference I wanted for coming back to that old classic experience.
Riftback is free and carries no ads. The hosting bill is mine. If the site saves you a dig through fifteen-year-old forum threads, you can chip in.
Support Riftback with KoggyHow the tier list is made
Each Classic SR letter is the median of six third-party League Classic tier boards (U.GG, Metasrc, RankedBoost, Playhub, Retro Games Heaven and MeinMMO), read on a stated date. Those boards are editorial opinion; none is match data. Riot withholds Classic from its API, so no win, pick or ban rate can be verified, and this site publishes none. Each champion's card on the tier list shows the boards' letters, the read date and one game reason for the placement.
Quick answers
- Why is a champion A and not S?
- Open the ⓘ on the champion's tile: the card gives the one-line game reason and the letter each board gave. The letter is the boards' median, so one board rating higher does not move it.
- Why no win rates?
- Riot withholds League Classic from its Match API and has asked that Classic data not be aggregated or displayed. The missing rates are policy, not an accident, and numbers nobody can verify do not go on this site.
- How often does it update?
- The boards are re-read after each patch and once a week between patches. Champions whose kit changed after the last read are marked on the tier list until they are re-read.
Where the numbers come from
Cooldowns, costs, damage, base stats, item stats and prices, rune and mastery values, jungle camp numbers and summoner spells are read from the Classic client's own data files and re-checked against the live client on every update. A number that stops matching the client blocks the site from building until it is fixed.
Not everything can be checked that way, and this site says so instead of pretending: ability ratios and ranges are transcribed by hand, tier letters are the opinion of six named boards, and build advice is editorial. Where a value has no source at all, the page shows the gap rather than a guess. The one number this site refuses on principle has its own page.
