Where the numbers come from
Why there are no win rates here
Short version: nobody can verify one. Long version below; it is a better story than it sounds.
What Riot did, and why
When Classic launched in July 2026, its match data was briefly reachable through the public API. Stats sites started publishing rates within days, and Riot pulled the endpoint. Riot's developer-relations notice says Classic match history stays out of the API, and asks that Classic data “not be aggregated or displayed to users in any form.” The stated reason, discussed at length in the community thread: to keep the mode's experimental spirit alive. AP Sion, AP Master Yi and AP Tristana exist as living picks precisely because no meta site can declare them dead by decimal.
This site's rule came first
Riftback decided against rates on July 31, 2026, before Riot's notice made it policy. The reasoning was simpler than principle: a number nobody can verify does not belong on a reference site. When the official position arrived, nothing here had to change.
The flip side is worth saying plainly: any site showing you an exact Classic win, pick or ban rate today is showing you a number that cannot be checked against official match data, whatever its methodology page says.
What this site shows instead
- Tiers as the median of six named boards, read on a stated date, with every board's letter and one game reason on each champion's card. Editorial opinion, labeled as such.
- Game values checked against the client: cooldowns, costs, damage, base stats, item stats and prices, rune and mastery values. A number that stops matching the live client blocks the site from publishing. How that works.
- Hand-written matchup notes that argue from the kits, not from a rate, because the rate does not exist to argue from.
Quick answers
- Can any site show verified League Classic win rates?
- No. Riot removed Classic match history from its public API and asked that Classic data not be aggregated or displayed. A site showing exact Classic rates is showing numbers that cannot be checked against official match data.
- So how does Riftback rank champions?
- Each tier letter is the median of six named community boards, re-read after every patch, with the read date and every board's letter shown on the champion's card: opinion, labeled as opinion, with the working shown.
- Are the numbers on the build pages affected?
- No. Those are game values, not match statistics. Cooldowns, costs, damage, item stats and prices are read from the Classic client's own files and re-checked against the live client on every update.
