    1. Doran's Ring
    2. Health Potion, 2 of them

Equilibrium already scales Veigar's regen with missing mana; the ring's job here is health and a 15 ability power head start.

    Alternative start:
    1. Boots of Speed
    2. Health Potion, 4 of them

Dark Matter takes 1.2 seconds to land, and 25 movement speed helps Veigar place it and walk out of the answers.

    Alternative start:
    1. Null-Magic Mantle
    2. Health Potion, 2 of them

Veigar only has to survive to his stacks, which is what 400 gold of magic resist buys in a mage lane.

Phenomenal Evil Power

Veigar is the greatest Evil to ever strike at the hearts of Runeterra - and he's only getting bigger! Striking an enemy Champion with a spell or scoring a takedown grants Veigar permanently increased Ability Power.

Classic-specific behavior

Classic's Equilibrium grants 1% mana regen per 1% missing mana; the historical pre-rework innate gave 1.5% per 1%.

Coming from current LeagueAP stacking is not free here: the only self-scaling is landing last hits with Q, and missing creeps means never scaling; R also amplifies against high-AP targets, not low-health ones.
Remembering Veigar in 2013R costs 225 mana at rank 3 and the passive only grants mana regen (no AP), so the old cage-W-Q-R combo is genuinely mana-limited early.
